Zombie Run Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A zombie run sends participants along a course while costumed actors chase them, often grabbing flag belts, with obstacles and themed props along the route. Organizers should look at participant injury coverage, actor training and contact rules, obstacle safety and certificate requests from the landowner.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review zombie run insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Describe the zombie run's themed interactions and actual running route.
  • Identify performers, pursuit elements and any proposed physical contact.
  • Separate theatrical scares from obstacles or competitive activities requiring their own description.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a spectator is knocked down when a runner fleeing a costumed zombie cuts through the viewing area and alleges that the themed-run organizer caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If a costumed volunteer zombie is hurt grabbing at runners and claims against the organizer, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the themed-run organizer who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
