Event Videographer Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

An event videographer films weddings, conferences and performances, often moving through crowds with tripods, lighting and drones. Videographers should look at professional liability for lost or unusable footage, equipment coverage, drone exclusions and what venues or planners require on certificates.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review event videographer insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Describe filming, sound recording and editing deliverables.
  • Identify camera movement, lighting and recording equipment.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and storage of video files.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a wedding guest is hit when the videographer's camera slider on a light stand is bumped over near the dance floor and alleges that the videographer caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If the videographer's footage is lost to a corrupted card and the couple sues over the missed wedding, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the videographer who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
