Cannabis Event Food Vendor Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A food vendor at a cannabis event serves meals, snacks or drinks to attendees of a cannabis festival, expo or social gathering, separate from any cannabis sellers. Vendors should confirm they are not selling infused products, how cannabis exclusions read, and what the organizer requires on certificates.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review cannabis event food vendor insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Identify the cannabis-event organizer separately from the food operator.
  • Describe menu, ingredient suppliers and any samples.
  • Coordinate food-service terms with restrictions at the host event.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a festival guest is burned when a fryer basket spills hot oil across the counter of the food vendor's booth and alleges that the food vendor caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If a food item turns out to contain cannabis and the policy's cannabis exclusion blocks coverage, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the food vendor who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
