Tap Dance Performance Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A tap dance performance puts soloists or troupes on a wood stage or portable tap floor for recitals, showcases or festivals. Producers should check how the dance surface is laid and secured, whether dancers need participant injury coverage, and what the venue expects on certificates.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review tap dance performance insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Describe tap routines and the dance surface.
  • Identify floor protection and sound pickup arrangements.
  • Coordinate rehearsal and costume changes.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a guest catches a heel on the raised edge of a portable tap floor laid over the ballroom carpet and falls and alleges that the show producer caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If a dancer slips on the tap surface mid-routine and seeks medical costs from the producer, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the show producer who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.
