Summer Camp Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A summer camp runs day or overnight sessions for children with sports, crafts, swimming, trips and visiting-family events. Operators should look at camper accident coverage, abuse and molestation exposure, vehicles used for field trips, and whether the facility owner or school district requires specific certificates.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review summer camp insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Identify camper ages, session dates and actual activity choices.
  • Separate day attendance, overnight stays and offsite excursions if any.
  • Describe counselors, transport and permissions for each camp location.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a visiting parent at the end-of-session show falls from unanchored bleachers set up beside the camp field and alleges that the camp operator caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If a camper is hurt during a planned activity and the family seeks medical costs from the camp, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the camp operator who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
