Sorority Party Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A sorority party can range from a chapter formal at a rented hall to a themed mixer at the chapter house with a DJ and outside guests. The main insurance questions are who controls the premises, whether alcohol is served and by whom, and what the venue and supplier contracts require.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review sorority party insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Identify who controls the sorority party premises.
  • Describe outside guests, entertainment and supplier contracts.
  • Distinguish chapter activities from a separately operated bar or venue service.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a guest from another campus falls down a crowded staircase at the rented event space during the chapter's formal and alleges that the host chapter caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If a guest who was served alcohol at the party later causes a crash on the drive home, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the host chapter who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
