Sorority Fundraiser Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A sorority fundraiser might be a pancake breakfast, philanthropy dance, car wash or auction run by chapter members for a charitable cause. Organizers should sort out who controls the venue, whether alcohol is served, how donated vendors are insured and whether national or campus rules add requirements.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review sorority fundraiser insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Identify the sorority chapter's actual fundraising operation.
  • Describe donated services and who directs their providers.
  • Coordinate money collection separately from activity supervision.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a visiting parent slips on spilled syrup near the pancake-breakfast serving line set up in the campus hall and alleges that the sorority chapter caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If chapter volunteers pour donated beer at the fundraiser without liquor liability on the policy, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the sorority chapter who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
