Prom Send-Off Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A prom send-off gathers students, parents and friends at a home, park or school before prom for photos, snacks and a parade of arriving limousines or party buses. Hosts should sort out where cars will pull in, whether the location owner wants a certificate and who is responsible for vehicle-related claims.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review prom send-off insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Define the send-off location and gathering before the prom.
  • Describe photo areas, guest arrivals and vehicle departures.
  • Clarify that the send-off host does not necessarily organize the prom itself.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a parent taking photos falls from a front porch step as families crowd together for a group shot and alleges that the send-off host caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If a limousine driver clips a guest's parked car, since vehicle damage falls under auto coverage, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the send-off host who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
