Political Campaign Fundraiser Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A political campaign fundraiser hosts donors at a home, hotel ballroom or venue for speeches, photos with the candidate, food and often a bar. Organizers should identify the campaign entity, sort out liquor liability and security for protests, and confirm what the venue requires on certificates.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review political campaign fundraiser insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Identify the campaign entity receiving fundraising proceeds.
  • Describe ticketing, donor activities and public access.
  • Coordinate campaign staff, venue and suppliers.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a donor is hurt when a crowd presses toward the candidate for photos and a stanchion falls onto them and alleges that the campaign committee caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If protesters damage rented decor, or bad weather forces cancellation after catering is paid, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the campaign committee who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.
