Menorah Lighting Ceremony Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A menorah lighting ceremony gathers people, often in a public plaza, to light a large menorah with open flames or electric lamps, sometimes from a lift. Organizers should describe the lighting method, platform or lift use and crowd separation, and confirm the property owner's certificate requirements.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review menorah lighting ceremony insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Identify the menorah, lighting method and person conducting the ceremony.
  • Describe any flame, fuel, electrical supply or platform actually used.
  • Coordinate the ceremonial sequence and public separation around the display.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a spectator is burned when wind blows a flame from the large menorah's oil lamp toward the crowd and alleges that the ceremony organizer caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If the menorah is damaged by wind, or the lift used for lighting it tips over, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the ceremony organizer who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
