Live Action Role Play Insurance (LARP): Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A LARP event has participants act out characters in a story-driven game, often with costumes, padded props and staged combat in parks or rented sites. Organizers should describe contact rules, mark play boundaries, confirm the venue's requirements and address participant injury separately.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review LARP event insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Describe the game rules and physical interaction.
  • Mark the play area and participant boundaries.
  • Manage props, protective gear and staff roles.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a park visitor walking a trail is knocked down by players charging through during a foam-weapon battle scene and alleges that the LARP organizer caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If a player is injured in a padded weapon clash or rented costumes and props are damaged, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the LARP organizer who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
