Hired Lecturer Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A hired lecturer is a contracted speaker who presents on a set topic, sometimes supplying handouts, slides or recordings. Lecturers should define their deliverables clearly, since advice given to the audience, copyrighted material and a venue's certificate requirements may each call for different coverage.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review hired lecturer insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Define the lecturer's contracted topic and deliverables.
  • Identify professional advice and audience materials if supplied.
  • Coordinate recordings and venue-provided technical equipment.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose an audience member is struck when the lecturer's portable projection screen topples from the stage edge and alleges that the lecturer caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If an attendee relies on advice from the talk and claims financial loss, a professional liability issue, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the lecturer who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
