Fraternity Party Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A fraternity party is a social gathering hosted by a chapter at its house or a rented venue, with invited guests, music and often alcohol. Chapters should confirm who hosts and controls the property, how alcohol and assault claims may be excluded, and what the university or national organization requires.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review fraternity party insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Identify the chapter or other entity hosting the fraternity party.
  • Explain guest admission, invited organizations and any payment.
  • Describe alcohol control, entertainment and property-use arrangements.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a visiting student falls from an overcrowded second-floor balcony at the chapter house and alleges that the fraternity chapter caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If alcohol is served to underage guests and one is injured afterward, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the fraternity chapter who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
