Fraternity Fundraiser Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A fraternity fundraiser raises money for a named charity through events such as carnivals, athletic contests or dinners. Chapters should confirm who organizes versus who benefits, how injuries to donors and passersby may be handled, and whether alcohol or athletic activity triggers exclusions.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review fraternity fundraiser insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Identify the fraternity entity and named charitable beneficiary.
  • Describe the specific fundraising activity and chapter duties.
  • Coordinate campus approvals separately from insurance requirements.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a passerby is struck by a ball thrown wide of the dunk tank at the chapter's charity carnival and alleges that the fraternity chapter caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If donated raffle prizes are stolen from the chapter house before the drawing, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the fraternity chapter who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
