Sorority Event Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A sorority event may be a meeting, service project, open house or social gathering, sometimes co-organized with a national or local group. Chapters should list the actual activities, confirm who controls the property and directs volunteers, and check how alcohol-related claims may be treated.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review sorority event insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Identify the sorority chapter and any national or local co-organizer.
  • List the meeting, service or social activities actually planned.
  • Describe who controls the property and directs volunteer work.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a guest is injured when a volunteer-built photo wall tips over during a chapter open house and alleges that the sorority chapter caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If a volunteer is hurt during setup or a member's own property is damaged, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the sorority chapter who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
