Sorority Educational Event Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A sorority educational event may cover leadership, wellness or career topics through speakers, breakout groups and printed materials. Chapters should confirm who contracts the educator and venue, how attendee injuries may be treated, and how any social gathering afterward is kept separate for insurance purposes.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review sorority educational event insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Identify the sorority chapter, sponsor and contracted educator.
  • Describe registration, breakout groups and materials distributed.
  • Separate the educational program from an adjoining social gathering.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a visiting member slips on a spilled drink at the registration table on the way into a breakout session and alleges that the sorority chapter caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If an adjoining social gathering serves alcohol that the educational program's arrangements never addressed, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the sorority chapter who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
