Dog Show Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A dog show brings exhibitors, handlers and their dogs to judging rings, grooming areas and benching space, usually with a paying or public audience. Organizers should sort out how spectator bites and falls may be handled, whether injury to exhibited dogs is excluded, and what the venue contract requires.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review dog show insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Describe dog-show judging and ring arrangements.
  • Identify handlers, waiting areas and exhibitors.
  • Coordinate animal entry and public circulation.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a spectator is knocked over by a startled dog that slips its lead near the judging ring and alleges that the dog show organizer caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If a show dog is injured in its crate or a handler's grooming equipment is stolen, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the dog show organizer who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
