Event Decorator Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

Event decorators install drapery, balloon frames, centerpieces and hanging decor at weddings, galas and corporate events, often working at height on venue surfaces. Decorators should confirm how guest injuries from falling decor and damage to venue walls or ceilings may be handled, and whether their own props and tools need separate protection.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review event decorator insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Identify decorations, attachment methods and installation heights.
  • Describe wall, ceiling and floor surfaces being worked on.
  • Coordinate decor removal and responsibility for venue damage.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a guest is hit by a balloon garland frame that detaches from the ballroom ceiling during the reception and alleges that the event decorator caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If decorations damage the venue's walls or the decorator's own props are broken during teardown, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the event decorator who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
