Dance Class Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A dance class teaches a specific style such as ballet, salsa or hip hop to students of various ages, sometimes with partner work and instructor assists. Instructors should clarify student injury coverage, professional liability and who is responsible for the floor between classes.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review dance class insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Identify the dance style, student ages and lesson format.
  • Describe partner work, lifts and instructor assistance if any.
  • Coordinate floor use and transitions between successive classes.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a parent waiting in the studio doorway is struck by a student spinning out of a turn sequence and alleges that the dance instructor caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If a student is injured during a lift or instructor-assisted stretch, raising a participant or professional claim, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the dance instructor who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
