Craft Vendor Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A craft vendor sells handmade goods such as jewelry, candles, woodwork or textiles from a booth at markets and fairs. Vendors should check what the event host requires, whether products liability applies to what they make and how their inventory is protected.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review craft vendor insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Display or supply handmade craft products.
  • Manage customers, stock and the stall footprint.
  • Deliver, install and remove the business’s display.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a shopper is cut by a sharp metal edge on a handmade wind chime hanging from the booth canopy and alleges that the craft vendor caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If handmade inventory is damaged in a storm or stolen from the vendor's car overnight, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the craft vendor who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
