Food Concession with Cooking Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A concessionaire with cooking prepares hot food on site at fairs, sporting events and festivals using fryers, grills or griddles. Operators should sort out fire and fuel risks, coverage for their own equipment and trailer, and what proof of liability the event requires.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review food concession with cooking insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Describe the concessionaire's actual cooking methods.
  • Identify heat sources, fuel and customer-service separation.
  • Coordinate equipment transport and food storage.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a customer in line is splashed with hot oil when a fryer basket is dropped at the service window and alleges that the concessionaire caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If a propane fire destroys the concession trailer or its cooking equipment, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the concessionaire who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
