Hired Comedian Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A hired comedian performs a set or hosts an event such as a corporate dinner, fundraiser or private party, often with crowd interaction. Comedians should clarify who controls admission and the rest of the show, what the venue requires and whether their own equipment is covered.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review hired comedian insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Describe the comedian's hired set and hosting duties.
  • Identify microphone, platform and audience-interaction arrangements.
  • Clarify who controls admission and the rest of the show.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose an audience member pulled into a crowd-work bit slips stepping onto the low stage platform and breaks a wrist and alleges that the comedian caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If the show is canceled and the comedian's travel costs are lost, or their microphone gear is stolen, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the comedian who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
