Hired Clown or Clown Troupe Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

This covers a solo clown or a small clown group hired for birthdays, school events or festivals, often with balloon twisting, juggling and face painting. Clowns should confirm who supplies props and directs the act, what the host requires and how their own injuries or equipment losses would be handled.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review hired clown or clown troupe insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Confirm whether the applicant is a solo clown or a group business.
  • Describe any balloon, juggling or audience-interaction activities.
  • Identify the actual person supplying props and directing the act.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a birthday guest develops a painful skin reaction to face paint applied during the clown's act and alleges that the clown performer caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If the clown's balloon pump and juggling props are damaged, or the clown is hurt while performing, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the clown performer who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
