CBD Vendor Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A CBD vendor sells oils, edibles, topicals or other hemp-derived products at markets, festivals and wellness shows, sometimes with free samples. Vendors should check whether event hosts require proof of coverage, whether products liability applies to what they sell and how cannabis-related exclusions may limit ordinary policies.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review CBD vendor insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Identify the CBD products, ingredients and services actually supplied.
  • Describe whether the vendor sells goods, offers demonstrations or gives advice.
  • Separate the vendor's product operations from the surrounding event organizer's duties.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a festivalgoer becomes dizzy and falls after trying a CBD gummy sample handed out at the vendor's booth and alleges that the CBD vendor caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If a customer claims a product was mislabeled and the policy excludes cannabis-related products entirely, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the CBD vendor who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
