Non-Ticketed Band Performance Insurance: Coverage, Cost and Same-Day Guide

A non-ticketed band performance is a hired gig at a private party, bar or festival where the host controls admission and the band plays within set genre limits. Bands should sort out liability for audience injuries near the stage, coverage for their own instruments, and the certificate the host requests.

Which guide answers my question?

Which activities should the application describe?

Insurers price and review non-ticketed band performance insurance from the activity plan, not the event name. Describe who is responsible for each of these arrangements:

  • Define the band's non-ticketed engagement and contract with the host.
  • Identify instruments, amplifiers and power requirements.
  • Describe audience proximity and any participation in the performance.

What kind of claim is this insurance for?

Suppose a guest dancing near the stage is struck when a guitar amplifier stacked on a road case tips over and alleges that the band caused the injury. That is the kind of third-party claim event liability insurance may address, subject to the policy terms. If the band's amplifiers and instruments are damaged by rain or a power surge at the gig, you may need a separate coverage option; ordinary event liability is not automatically the answer.

What should I have ready for a quote?

  • The legal name of the band who will be the named insured.
  • Event dates, setup and teardown times, the venue address and expected daily attendance.
  • The venue contract or permit, including any certificate and additional insured wording it requires.
  • Whether alcohol is served, sold or brought by guests, and who serves it.
  • Hired vendors, performers and equipment rentals, and any activity beyond the list above.

Request a quote with your event details. Submitting the form does not bind insurance.
